Wing Luke Asian Museum
A museum of its kind in America, the Wing Luke Asian Museum has collections depicting the history and culture of the American Asian and Pacific Islanders which include their experiences. The museum includes arts volunteered by the local community and is aimed at promoting peace and understanding between multicultural groups through the exhibits and programs.
The collection includes both historical and modern and are in the form of photographs and texts among other media. Current collections come from the Modern Asians and Pacific Americans engaged in arts and performances. In essence, the museum serves a number of functions in the community; as a community centre, art and cultural museum.
The museum features an attractive building design with few changes here and there to improve the building. Its design has earned it two national awards in competitions; Great Places Award and the International Interior Design Association, more reason why you should sample this museum on your next Seattle traveling. This museum which is made of wood, steel and glass is a good preserve of what it is mandated to keep and provides fine views of the collections.
