Walk around the Wildlife Habitat at Magnuson Park - The Destination of Breathtaking Wildlife Scene
Magnuson Park is the second largest part in the Seattle area, spread over 350 acres. It houses one of the largest playgrounds in the city called the Junior League of Seattle Children's Playground which is a 20,000 sq. feet of sand boxes, colored climbing walls, slides, and swings. There are other recreational areas in the Magnuson Park like jogging tracks, picnic spots, off leash Dog Park, swimming beach, and public sail boating along the Washington Lake. The park also offers a rich habitat for wild birds of more than 125 species.
The Magnuson Park is home to a diverse landscape and a rich wildlife habitat. The city government of Seattle has created a Vegetation Management Plan which reports that apart from the 125 species of birds spotted in the area, other common mammals living there are raccoons, feral cats, rabbits, voles, beavers, and coyotes. The varied landscape includes wet and dry meadows, forested areas, shorelines of the Lake Washington, and shrubberies.
The diverse landscape also offers very diverse vegetation. Apart from the northwest local flora, there is significant cover of Himalayan blackberries, English Ivy, holly, Scot's broom and reed canary grass. After a detailed study, the city government has developed a plan to ensure sustainable growth of local flora and fauna population as well as create a diverse habitat for foreign species.
This diverse and rich wildlife in Magnuson Park draws thousands of visitors every year. Many environmental study and sustainable recreation forums often conduct study groups to educate the visitors of the rich wildlife resources in the area and ways to ensure continual protection. The Magnuson Park is indeed a unique attraction in Seattle city that is a destination with breathtaking wildlife scene.
