The founder of Boeing Company was William Boeing who had his start from the timber Industry of Seattle. William Boeing's knowledge of wood helped him to begin the designing of the planes in wood and later he founded his own airline manufacturing company in the year 1916.
Currently, Boeing is the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world, and the biggest exporter in the United States. By 1938, the company actually became a world leader in aircraft design and manufacturing. Boeing was responsible for the design of the B-17 and the B-29, the Allies' most important bombers during World War II.

In fact Boeing was considered to be one of the biggest employers of Seattle as every month, around 350 planes were churned out at the height of the war and this also brought lot of capital and labor to Seattle.
While the end of the war proved temporarily catastrophic because lost their jobs overnight as the government cancelled all its pending orders but the technology called the jet engine that was developed ensured Boeing's and consequently Seattle's healthy survival.
