Seattle's population has been seen to grow faster than the growth of the population of the Washington state. According to the new population estimates, the influx of new residents in Washington State has led to speedening of the population growth in Seattle.

According to the state Office of Financial Management, the population of Seattle has been estimated to be close to 602,000 residents in Seattle. The population figure has grown up by 6.9 per cent since the year 2000 and by 1.6 per cent when compared to the figures for the year 2008.
The annual growth rate of the population has recently slowed down in Seattle.
Seattle was 136th out of the state's 279 ranked cities for growth rate since 2000 but 67th for the annual percentage change as of April 1.
