
The Alaskan Way Viaduct - Fixture of the Downtown Seattle Waterfront
There has been a fixed structure of Alaskan Way Viaduct section of SR 99 since the last fifty years. This structure is in Downtown Seattle waterfront.

In the current situation, it forms the main north-south route through the city. It carries a major chunk of the traffic which is moving to the downtown that is close to 20 to 25 per cent. The route is subjected to daily wear and tear and salty marine air and thus its condition is getting deteriorated day after day.
