The Most Interestingly Designed Building You Must Visit - Experience Music Project in Downtown Seattle
The Experience Music Project (EMP) is an interesting tourist destination in downtown Seattle and a great place to visit for music lovers. It is a musical museum that fosters American pop music as well as rock n roll through a large collection of exhibits, educational programs and musical events.
Set up by Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft Corporation, the mission of the center is to inform tourists about the rich history and development of American music.
The most striking feature about EMP is its well-architected building. Architected by Frank Gehry, a renowned architect, the building uses a metal cloud architecture, which makes it bold and wild. The exterior of the building is made of aluminum and stainless steel painted in red and blue. There is also a fusion of colors including touches of purple, golden and silver finishes on the surface.
The building houses a retail outlet, a coffee shop and a restaurant. The whole building appears to have a fluid design which according to critics is an innovative thought since music by itself is fluid in nature. It is considered to be the apt representation of the pop and rock culture in America.
The museum has a collection of nearly 80,000 exhibits and artifacts including the different kinds of musical instruments used in American music, some components of stage decor and costumes of popular music icons. You will come across a number of interactive exhibits and programs which are very interesting. You can try out composing your own music at the sound lab, using the various musical instrument of your choice. There is also a digital lab inside the museum premises.
