Seward Park

Travel in Seattle is a memorable experience with a visit to Seward Park. A integral part of Seattle travel and tourism, Seward Park is an old growth forest located in the South of Seattle. Occupying about 300 acres (120 hectares), Seward Park is a forested area along Bailey Peninsula.

Many of the trees along Seward Park are two or more centuries old, and this area forms part of Seattle's natural heritage, as one could see a view of Seattle before its industrialization. Nonetheless, Seward Park's vegetation is still relatively young, considering that the trees along Seattle before were more than a thousand years old before its industrialization.

Named after William H. Seward, the US Secretary of State who initiated the purchase of Alaska from the Russians, the Park stands as a memorial and a reminder of Seattle's natural riches. Developed by the Olmsted Brothers, Seward Park at the present now hosts a lot of facilities for the enjoyment of the public. Seward Park has the following: 2.4 miles of biking and walking trail, an amphitheater for public performances and park events, a native plant garden, art studios, and plenty of hiking trails.

Seward Park is very accessible and can be reached through various means of transportation. One can reach it via car by driving to Southeast Seattle, where it can be found Lake Washington Blvd and Orcas Street. One can also reach it via bus. Seward Park opens everyday at 6AM and closes at 11PM. Its parking lot, on the other hand, has the same opening hour, but it closes an hour earlier at night.
