Seattle Parks is a government department of the city of Seattle that is responsible for the maintenance of the city's parks and recreation areas. Seattle parks and recreation is also referred to as Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). The department manages a total area of 25 kilometers squared of which 19 kilometers squared is developed.
To all the park lovers out there is a lot to expect when you travel Seattle. In the Seattle parks expect to enjoy wading in the pools and spray parks, cycling, the beach, rowing and sailing, exploring the nature all around, attending community festivals, and visiting the beautiful gardens. At the Seattle parks we offer high quality programming, consistent care, and competent and equipped staff and welcome members of all community.
There are licensed camps for the young ones as from kindergarten all through fifth grade that offer many activities in recreation, arts and culture, health and fitness tips, environmental groups, field trips and much more. Our staff is dedicated to build community relationships and individual motivation.

Seattle parks manages 4 golf courses, 151 outdoor tennis courts, over 60 basket ball courts, 204 athletic fields, 2 outdoor and 8 indoor swimming pools, 26 community centers, viewpoints, fishing piers, boat ramps, woodland park zoo, Washington arboretum, Seattle aquarium, the volunteer conservatory and many places to run and jog. The largest park is the Discovery Park in magnolia and the oldest is Denny Park in South Lake Union.
