For sports lovers who travel, Seattle is an exciting place to visit. There is a lot of sporting action always afoot in the city and it is also the home of the great baseball team the Seattle Mariners. The Seattle Mariners are a professional baseball team that has start players.
They have been playing for over three decades and they have become quite popular. Although they are comparatively new team in the major league, they continue to hold their own and progress.

Here are some quick facts about the team.
- The team is part of the Western Division of the Major League of Baseballs American League.
- As of July 1999, the Safeco Field in Seattle has been the home ballpark to the team.
- Before 1999 and since their inception in 1977, the teams home ballpark was the Kingdome.
- Their official mascot is the Mariner Moose.
- The team colors are navy blue, teal and metallic silver. The colors are in keeping with the water and the marine culture that surrounds it.
History
The mariners were born out of a lawsuit that forced the American League to offer a truce to settle the matter out of the court. This led to a major league team being offered to Seattle and another being offered to Toronto to keep the number of teams even.
The Mariners derive their name from the extensive Marine culture that can be found within Seattle. The team has been nicknamed the Ms because it was a part of their primary logo from their birth to the year 1992.
They had their first major victory in the year 1995 whereby they defeated the New York Yankees to win their first division championship.
