Seafair Seattle 2009 Information

Since 1949 the community of Seattle has been celebrating their people's spirit of Puget Sound or like others would want to call it, has the Seattle's summer series of special events and festivities which include a torchlight run and parades. In course of the month - long festival, events like milk carton derby, a triathlon, an air show, a scholarship pageant, and the fleet arrival and tour will be held. The Seattle metropolitan area as usual will be replete with revelry celebrating diverse cultures like African, Hispanic and their delicacies plus whaling.

It will start from July 25; Seattle Downtown is expected to be alive with, marching band, dance teams, and even military units preceded by a torchlight run while more than 300,000 participants will be following in a gold rush. The competition is not in vain because the fastest runners, wheelchair racers together with the most creative costumed runners will go away with a reward. The race will follow the traditional starting point which is Seattle center moving towards south down 4 Th avenue to Qwest fiel.

The hydroplane races on lake Washington are the must watch in the festival. Usually held very close to shores of Stan sayres memorial park, racing normally takes three days while the guests indulge in drinks, and food. The show usually features military vintage, and specialty aircraft flying over lake Washington.

Other festivities lined-up include Lake union wooden boat festival, Kent cornucopia days and parade, west Seattle HI - YU festival and parade, Mecer island summer celebration and parade, Chinatown/international district summer festival, Crown of queen Anne fun run, walk, and children's parade, Redmond derby days, Kla Ha Ya day festival and parade, Kirkland uncorked, and Indian days pow wow et al.
