People who are Seattle traveling believe that the Pike Place Market is Seattle's number one tourist attraction. Located in between the drag of First avenue and the waterfront, this market has been the main hub of waterfront activity even during the early days of Seattle.

Back in August 17, 1907, there were more than 10,000 shoppers who overwhelmed the venders at Pike Place Market. Now, the number of visitors has grown to more than 40,000 during the Summer season alone.

In the Pike Place Market, there are local artists, craftsmen, fish street performers, fruit vendors, florists among many food shop employees who are vying for your attention while you wander along the market. If you want to find some place interesting during your travels in Seattle, the Pike Place Market is the place to dine, shop, have a great stroll or simply catch up with close pals.

If you stroll along the North Arcade, you will discover a menagerie of local crafts, leather goods, foodstuffs and jewelry standing nearby vegetable and fresh fruit stands. Across the North Arcade, are buildings that have numerous shops lined up just like in a gallery, Pike Place Market style with shops such as the Kosher Delight and Le Panier, a French bakery.

At the Pike Place Fish Market, watch the excellent fish throwers, tossing and catching more than a dozen salmon. Continue walking to the large clock and the Public Market sign, and discover the resident brass pig sitting next to street performers. All sorts of shops ranging from candy shops, antique shops, restaurants, jewelers and ethnic shops are positioned on the old fashioned floors almost creating a gallery.

Be forewarned although there are people at this market most of the time, it is not always open and the outdoor stands and shops close earlier than usual so it would be good thing to arrive earlier in the day.
