Kubota Gardens Tour
The Kubota Garden in Seattle is not simply a collection of plant and tree species. It is also a monument representing the determination, effort and the dogged will power to succeed by a man on foreign soil. Fujitaro Kubota who is credited with the creation of this wonderful Japanese Garden had a chequered life on this earth for half a dozen years short of a century. The Kubota garden is the manifestation of all the travails that this one person endured through several decades. The garden stands today as a fitting tribute to persistent pursuit of one's goals against all odds, single minded purpose, and above all an intense love for nature and one's mother land. Today, the Kubota Garden is among the most beautifully landscaped gardens in the region representing a fine blend of Japanese gardening concepts and the plants of the North West. It was only in 1987 some 14 years after the master landscaper had departed, that the state acquired this 20 acre garden. It is also important to know that this edifice was created by a man who never received any formal training in horticulture. He learned most of his lessons from the Mother Nature, deep in the woods, or in the middle of his gardens. http://www.seattle.gov/PARKS/park_detail.asp?ID=415 is the government website providing details of the park.
