History of Seattle Space Needle

The creation of the Seattle Space Needle was the idea of Edward Carlson, the chairman of the 1962.World's Fair. It was inspired by the Stuttgart Tower in Germany. John Graham was one of the architects who got involved in the project. Although the plan for the Space Needle was already devised there's no land and budget to build it. But a year before the 1962 World fair, a 120 ft x 120 ft land was made available selling at $75,000 which used to be a switching equipment facility for the fire and police department. The Pentagram Corporation then build the Space Needle and was eventually owned by the Space Needle Corporation in 1977.
