South Lake Union is a neighbourhood in Seattle. It gets its name as it is at the south end of the Union Lake. Although a small neighborhood in Seattle the South Union Lake is always buzzing with activity. There are various activities held which require active participation from the people and these activities see a rather large involvement too.

The Lake Union Park is a rather large green space for the community and with it's opening in September 2010 the town would have a big open space for all to enjoy. The Centre for Wooden Boats is the perfect place for those interested in a fabulous maritime experience.

At South Lake Union you can enjoy free boat rides or even rent a boat. Sailing classes and workshops are held for a wholesome experience. The place has a library and also an online museum that would give you an insight on the boats available there.

The Cascade People's Center helps people in forming strong family bonds and stronger communities too. One can even volunteer for their programs so as to help make their mission a success.

South Lake Union also has health centers, careeer counselling centers, maritime units, emergency response training units and almost all the required facilities that are necessary for a town to be self sufficient.

The programs in the town help in getting more and more people involved in community activities and the coming together of all these people help in making the community and neighbourhood a better place to live in.

The Seattle lake foundation and the city have a vision in creating a multi-use trail around the slake union. The vision is therefore aimed at making the community around here enjoy the opportunities at their exposure from the lake union. The park has been a reality since July 2000 when it was marked as a recreational centre by the US Navy. It has since then remained as a unique urban gem for popular waterfront park.
