Travel to Frye Art Museum - A Collection of Painting and Sculpture from the 19th Century to the Present
Located at First Hill, Seattle, USA, the Frye Art Museum holds the testimonies of all the sculpture and painting collection right from the 19th century. The museum was started by Charles and Emma Frye in 1952 and was the first of its kind in Seattle. Charles was the owner of a meatpacking plant and left all his money and collection of 230 paintings to take the shape of the Frye Art Museum.
The will of Charles specifically states that all the paintings were to be kept in adequate lighting and the rooms be made with appropriate dimensions and flooring requirement of the exhibits. The best thing that Charles stated in his will is that the admission to the museum should be made free for all. Thus, the Frye Art Museum calls for a great experience and excellent opportunity to witness the genius.
The collection of Charles generally was of the dark and dramatic works. However the current management of the museum has turned to more venturesome exhibits. Of the recent inclusions are included the morbid childhood images of Mark Ryden, NSK's "The Retrofuturistic Universe" and the works of Henry Darger.
The notable artists that have contributed to the exhibits of the museum are Eugene Boudin, Felix Ziem, Eugene Isabey, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Franz von Lenbach, Fritz von Uhde (Picture Book), Tim Lowly, Hermann Corrodi (Venice), Franz Stuck (Judgment of Paris) and Ludwig von Zumbusch.
