The realtor who bought this land in the year 1887 named the place Ravenna on an Italian town at the seacoast that was known for its pine trees, and the city acquired this land in the year 1911.

The Park hours are from 4 am in the morning to 11-30 pm at night, thus is a joggers as well a s a picnic persons paradise. There are Parking lot that are located at the park's north end, and the park also has two parking spots for the handicapped.
