Gasworks Park Seattle
The Gasworks Park on Lake Union was home for a plant manufacturing gas from coal in 1906. In course of time, the feed stock was shifted from coal to crude oil. With the import of natural gas beginning 1950s, the plant itself became obsolete. Consequently the city of Seattle acquired the site for a park in 1962 and the park was finally opened to public in 1975. The boiler house which formed part of the original gas plant has now been converted in to a picnic shelter with attendant details. What was once an exhauster compressor building has given way to a Children's play barn featuring several brightly painted machinery. Gas Works Park sports a play area with a large play barn and a big hill which is popular for kite flying. A beautiful view of Seattle and a Sun dial are the special features of this park. To enjoy some beautiful photographs of the park, please visit http://www.gasworkspark.com/
Access to the Lake Union however is restricted at the park. The sediments in the lake contain hazardous substances. For this reason, boating, swimming, fishing or wading in the park is prohibited. The park property covers a little over 19 acres. Read genuine visitors' review of the park at

As you would have expected rightly, parking does not pose a challenge while at the park since a large parking lot is just 30 yards away and has adequate room for handicapped parking spots too. You can find a number of Seattle WA hotels in the immediate vicinity of this great Park when you have plans to spend extended periods of time here.
