The Space Needle in Seattle, Washington is a major landmark in the Pacific Northwest region. The tower is a symbol of Seattle and is located at the Seattle Center. Space Needle is 184m high and 42 m wide in its widest part. The tower is 9,550 tons and can withstand winds up to 2000 miles per hour. The tower is protected against lightening strikes and earthquakes up to 9.1 magnitude.

At a height of 160m, there is an observation deck and a gift shop. At 152 m, there is a rotating restaurant names the Sky City restaurant. From the top of the tower, one can see the extended area of Seattle. Mount Rainier, Elliot Bay and the Olympic are also visible. The tower has been facilitated with elevators for the visitors to ascend easily. It takes more than 40 seconds to reach the top.
On major national holidays, the Space Needle's Legacy Light is illuminated as a bright streak of light towards the sky. The light was first illuminated on the New Year's Eve 2000. The light is based on the depiction of a light atop the tower in the 1962 world fair.
